At a recent meeting of the Bourbon Society of Greater Cincinnati, Buffalo Trace Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley spilled the beans on an potentially exciting new offering from sister-distiller, Barton’s 1792. According to Wheatley, there is a new Ridgemont Reserve 1792 sitting in bottles ready to be shipped. He didn’t specify exactly what that new product would be, but on the recent Media Tour for the Bourbon Classic, we were treated to a barrel proof 1792 that was, and I don’t say this lightly, absolutely amazing.
While Wheatley is not the Master Distiller of Barton 1792, it stands to reason he might at least have some good knowledge of the inner workings and product development at the distillery, as both Barton and Buffalo Trace are owned by parent company Sazerac. So let’s hope this is accurate!
