Raise a glass tonight for David Beam, brother of Baker Beam, who passed away peacefully in Bardstown, KY yesterday. David was the son of Carl beam, who was the nephew of Jim Beam, and a direct descendant of David M. Beam, Master Distiller. David worked at the distillery for 38 years, and was the last distiller at Jim Beam to bear the Beam name.

Daniel David Beam, 74, of Bardstown, died Monday, June 29, 2015, peacefully at his farm. He was a Catholic by faith and was a member of St. Joseph Parish. He was a graduate of St. Joe Prep. He was born Jan, 23, 1941, in Clermont on the grounds of Jim Beam Distilling Co. where he was raised. He was a dedicated distiller for the distillery for 38 years, working alongside his father, brother, and cousin. He was the last Beam distiller to work for the Jim Beam Distilling Co. He along with his wife, Belle, co-owned and managed the Old KY Home Motel for 21 years. His hobbies included collecting antiques, motorcycle riding, working on his “toys” and keeping his farm nicely mowed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Belle Janes Beam; his parents, Carl and Edna Beam; his sister, Carliss Bowman; and an infant brother, Jim Bill Beam; one infant grandson, David Winn Beam.
He is survived by one daughter, Anne Margaret (Buzzy) Pardieu of Bardstown; three sons, Bill (Marsha) Beam, Troy (Elaine) Beam, both of Bardstown and John Ed (Kate) Beam of Louisville; one brother, Baker Beam of Clermont; one brother-in-law, Richard Bowman of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Annabelle, Carly, Mia, Baker, and Lakenan.
The Memorial Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, and 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home.
