    Barrell Bourbon Batch 019

    What it is

Batch 019 is a 9.5-14-year-old bourbon that was distilled in Tennessee, matured in Tennessee and Kentucky.  It is bottled at a cask strength 54.7% ABV.
    MSRP: Around $100

    Appearance

Light tanned leather with a nice honey glow.

    Nose

Big notes of nuts and oak up front that goes right into Madagascar vanilla, peaches, light caramel and a tad bit of ethanol at the end.

    Taste

The sweet and nuttiness of this bourbon reminds me of being at the circus with a bag of peanuts and cotton candy. It dances on the palaet with with big notes of pecan and the caramel from the nose comes through lightly as it did on the nose with a slight grassy rye finish that isn’t abrasive at all.  The sweetness of corn and the nuttiness is a wonderful sign that the blend of these two bourbons was well executed and not just an afterthought.

    Finish

Medium finish that’s rich, luscious and buttery with a slight hug at the end.
The way it lingers in the background is a pleasant reminder of how wonderful this bourbon is and keeps you coming back for more.

    Synopsis

Over all this is another lovely batch by the folks over at Barrell Bourbon. I’ve been extremely open in post reviews about how much I enjoy their products. If you’re new to the Barrell line or you’re looking for a great gift I would spring for this in a heartbeat. If you’re a veteran drinker of this line and you have batch 015, give this one a taste before you dive in as they are cousins in flavor.

Timothy lived in Southern California most of his life and although he drank bourbon for good amount of those years, it wasn't until he moved to Louisville that he really jumped into bourbon head first. He's always been incredibly fascinated with what bourbon has to offer and what goes into making a great bottle of whiskey; from the earth that birthed the beautiful oak for its barrels to the grain that shines through when it first hits your lips. He wants to learn everything there is to know... and then drink it. You can Follow him on instagram @SingleBarrelSnob
