Day Five: Irish Whiskey Advent Calendar Countdown

DEC 5 – Glendalough 13 Year Old Mizunara Oak Finish    46%     Cost = $105-115    Score:  A-

Nose:  aromatic, rich fruits, barley sugars, caramel, apple orchard, cinnamon, pear

Taste:  a bit surprising compared to the nose, slight wood note with spice, dark chocolate, coffee, dark sugars with peaches, caramel

Finish:  good medium length

Overall:  not what I expected, a different Irish whiskey that touches on many senses; pleasant overall with the price reflecting the casks used to finish.  Glad I have an unopened bottle – I’d definitely give a try if you get the chance.  Debated on B+ or A-, but leaned to the higher range. An excellent dram overall.
