    2019 Whiskey Advent Calendar

Day 6: Glengarriff Series Peat Charred

    WesBy WesDecember 6, 2019Updated:December 13, 2019No Comments1 Min Read

Day Six: Irish Whiskey Advent Calendar Countdown

DEC 6 – West Cork Glengarriff Series Peat Charred Cask    43%   Cost = $35-45   Score:  C+

Nose:  different, sour wood, smoke, char, tart cider, some floral elements

Taste:  some muted sherry fruit notes, watery wood char – a bit flat for me, a plastic-y citrus candy note

Finish:  touch of wood bitterness on the medium finish

Overall:  a so-so whiskey overall – and I really love peat and sherry, and those two together; just not working here for me – others like it more, just not for me.  I would not add to my collection – try at a bar first and see if it is for you.

Click the links below for the introduction and other Irish Whiskey Advent Calendar Reviews. The top 2 from the first round of 6 whiskies were the Tullamore D.E.W. 18 Year Old and Glendalough 13 Year Mizunara Oak Finish.
