Daily Toast to the end of a Dry January!

    MattBy MattJanuary 31, 2014Updated:March 27, 2014No Comments1 Min Read

    dry

Apparently the wankers across the pond think that giving up drinking in the month of January is just a splendid idea. Dry January is a concept concocted by Campaign by Alcohol Concern in London. Now, if you have a problem with alcohol, I certainly agree that giving up alcohol, not only for the month, but permanently is very much advisable. If you do not fall into that category, I think this is a bunch of bollocks!

I like the forward thinking of this article, that argues that giving up alcohol in moderation may do more harm than good. The familiar and very applicable quote of Ben Franklin of “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” also comes to mind.  Why would we want to deprive ourselves of this wonderful gift, especially in a month as cold and dreary as this January? So lets raise a glass* to ourselves for not participating in Dry January, and another glass to welcome those buggers back off the wagon at midnight!

    *in moderation, of course
