In 2016, I attended a Luxco event in St. Louis where we tasted a number of different Luxco whiskeys including the then-to-be-released Blood Oath Pact 2, along with some prototype whiskeys they were considering for future release. It was a fun event where we mingled with Luxco marketing and production folks. But what really stole the show was when now-head distiller John Rempe brought out the as-yet-unannounced Rebel Yell 10 year. It easily was the favorite of the bulk of attendees. I immediately put out feelers to retailers to find out when they were getting it and if I could get a bottle. It was so surprisingly good, considering its pedigree, that I wanted as many as I could find. It was one of my two favorite new whiskeys of the year.
Last year, Luxco followed suit with a second edition. It did not endure a sophomore slump. Again, it was excellent.
Well, it’s back.
