Day Fifteen: Irish Whiskey Advent Calendar Countdown
DEC 15 – Connemara Peated Single Malt 40% Cost = $40-$50 Score: B-
Nose: peated caramel apples, spices, potpourri, intriguingly pleasant
Taste: spiced smoked toffee, red apple skins, a little vanilla and honey, an herbal quality
Finish: medium-long with a charred wood note
Overall: reportedly around 13-14 ppm on the peat; I love peated whiskies but this one is not quite there for me – would try again due to the unique nature of the dram; nose better than the palate in my opinion
