Modern Thirst was extremely fortunate during last week’s Media Tour for the Bourbon Classic to have the services of Ben Durant, a professional photographer, Modern Thirst contributor, and retail liquor store proprietor.  Mother Nature did her best to put a damper on the tour, dumping from 8-12 inches of snow, more in some places, on Central Kentucky, blanketing many of the distilleries we visited.  The result was a busload of frozen-to-the-bone writers and photographers, but some amazing scenes of some of Kentucky’s most scenic and historic distilleries in a light in which they are rarely seen.  Here are some scenes Ben…

Don’t have a favorite president?  Not sure who to toast?  Here’s a somewhat incomplete list of a number of U.S. Presidents and their favorite alcoholic libations: John Adams – Our second president drank Cider each morning with breakfast and beer after that.  That-a-boy, John.  Get started early! John Kennedy – JFK loved him some daiquiris and foo-foo drinks, and he really liked Heineken beer, which caused a minor stir with the press when it was discovered, as Heineken was imported.
