Review and rating of Hancock’s President’s Reserve Bourbon from Buffalo Trace by ModernThirst.com
A Blind Tasting of two Barton-distilled bourbons available at affordable prices.
A unique and spicy rye whiskey with big citrus character that should tempt the palate and price considerations of any rye enthusiast.

Old Forester Single Barrel is a little oak-heavy on the finish for me, trending towards overly bitter. Still, the nose is excellent, and the initial flavors are quite nice.
ModernThirst.com Score: 87 out of 100 Points.
There whiskey strikes a great balance of cooking spices with a little heat from the alcohol on the back of the tongue, making this a really nice sip. In fact, it’s one of the better rye whiskeys I’ve tasted in recent months, and I wish I’d picked up more of it. Very nice.
