A unique and spicy rye whiskey with big citrus character that should tempt the palate and price considerations of any rye enthusiast.
Old Forester 1897 is the second in Brown-Forman’s Whiskey Row series of Old Forester releases that commemorate momentous events in Brown Foreman’s (or in this case, whiskey in general’s) history.
Old Forester Single Barrel is a little oak-heavy on the finish for me, trending towards overly bitter. Still, the nose is excellent, and the initial flavors are quite nice.

There whiskey strikes a great balance of cooking spices with a little heat from the alcohol on the back of the tongue, making this a really nice sip. In fact, it’s one of the better rye whiskeys I’ve tasted in recent months, and I wish I’d picked up more of it. Very nice.
